Consacré à Nos cousins d’Amérique, le FIL 2025 ouvre la porte à une évocation des diasporas des nations celtes.
Le colloque Diasporas , organisé en ouverture du festival le vendredi 1er août, explorera les différentes facettes des communautés celtes expatriées : histoire, culture, économie.
Cet événement est conçu en collaboration avec la Région Bretagne qui déploie depuis trois ans une politique de dynamisation de la diaspora bretonne baptisée Bretons du Monde.
La matinée sera consacrée à une présentation du concept de diaspora et à un historique des différentes diasporas celtiques, avec un focus sur l’histoire de la diaspora bretonne.
L’après-midi sera étudiée l’actualité des diasporas celtiques et bretonnes, en partant d’un état des lieux pour analyser le sentiment d’appartenance et la structuration des communautés, avec les témoignages de représentants des diasporas en question, et, pour la Bretagne, de représentants des communautés bretonnes d’Écosse, Irlande, Galice, Slovaquie, Québec, USA, Louisiane et d’Asie.
En seconde partie d’après-midi seront présentées les politiques mises en place par les différents pays celtiques vers leur diaspora, avec les exemples écossais, irlandais, galicien et breton.
Dedicated to Our cousins in America, FIL 2025 opens the door to an evocation of the diasporas of the Celtic nations.
The Diasporas symposium, organised to open the festival on Friday 1 August, will explore the different facets of Celtic expatriate communities: history, culture, economy.
This event has been organised in collaboration with the Brittany Region, which has been rolling out a policy to boost the Breton diaspora called Bretons du Monde for the past three years.
The morning session will be devoted to a presentation of the concept of diaspora and a history of the various Celtic diasporas, with a focus on the history of the Breton diaspora.
In the afternoon, the current state of the Celtic and Breton diasporas will be examined, starting with a review of the current situation and analysing the sense of belonging and the structuring of the communities, with testimonies from representatives of the diasporas in question, and, for Brittany, from representatives of the Breton communities in Scotland, Ireland, Galicia, Slovakia, Quebec, the USA, Louisiana and Asia.
In the second half of the afternoon, the policies implemented by the various Celtic countries towards their diaspora will be presented, with examples from Scotland, Ireland, Galicia and Brittany.
